Picture
Buglas Bamboo Institute or BBI evolved out of two assessment studies both conducted by the Buglas Integrated Development, Inc., in 1994 and 1995, in the rural areas of Oriental Negros. The most significant recommendation made by the studies was to diversify the agricultural activities undertaken by the farmers in the communities. For farmers to consider commercially promising agricultural commodity, to generate extra family income and increase employment opportunities for young people.BBI is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. As a development organization, it aims to help develop local communities – its people and natural resources. Through the utilization of indigenous community resources and application of appropriate technologies, BBI hopes to realize for the communities human and material development.

BBI and together its partner communities, identified BAMBOO and its high potential for economic and rural development.

BAMBOO is one of the indigenous resources available in Oriental Negros owned by small farmers, it thrives abundantly with least cultural management.
